Sacred Heart of Jesus, a model of purity

When a person visits a garden in full bloom, he will be certainly attracted by the prettiest flower there. The virtue of purity is similar to a pretty flower. It is natural that everybody will be attracted to such a person enlightened with this divine virtue. Since Jesus was God, he glowed with all virtues in its fullness. He exercises the virtue of purity and draws towards Him those who are pure in heart. At the time of His incarnation He chose a virgin, who was imbued with purity to be His mother. His foster father St. Joseph was in no way surpassed in purity and equity and he disciplined Jesus in His childhood. Of His twelve disciples, St. John who gleamed in the power of abstinence was loved most by Jesus and he was the only one who was allowed to recline on His bosom.

During His lifetime, Jesus was accused of varied evil deeds and was scorned and belittled. But His enemies could never portray Him doing anything against the virtue of purity. According to the doctors of the Church, those souls who stay steadfast in the virtue of purity and constantly wage war for preserving it are considered equivalent to the heavenly angels. Only those souls who sparkle in the virtue of purity can follow the Lamb of God and sing heavenly hymns with the heavenly choir.

Therefore all you devotees of the Sacred Heart, let us strive to forgo all the temporal worldly pleasures and lead a life of purity. One who lengthens himself away from impure sins is both intelligent and lucky. The proud and the presumptuous will certainly fall into traps and perish. While waging a war with the body constantly, one should be careful enough to adorn himself with the required accessories and weapons. Instead of relying on self-power and knowledge, seek divine intervention and submit oneself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. To safeguard this virtue, distance yourselves from all evil that will hinder it. Pray every day to the Holy Virgin and to St. Joseph, who is the guardian of all abstainers to prevail in this virtue. Those who take these precaution have little chance of falling into sin

INVOCATION (JAPAM)

O most pure Sacred Heart of Jesus! Even the heavenly hosts amazed by the glimmer of your purity adore you. Divine Lord, take away all ungodly desires from my heart, so that I will adorn purity like the celestial beings and lead a virtuous life and gain the eternal reward promised to all those who are pure in heart.

Grant to Your Church, O Lord, assurance of freedom, protect our Supreme Pontiff and make haste that all may know the haven of truth, and have unity of faith, so that there may soon be one fold and one Shepherd! Lord, be merciful to the unfortunate sinners, console the souls in Purgatory and be merciful to me, your unworthy servant. O Immaculate Heart of Mary, O Mother of all blessings, I firmly believe that through your powerful intercession, all my prayers and petitions will be granted. Amen
